HOW TO USE

Chiropractors have the unique understanding of anatomy and neurophysiology, coupled with amazing palpation skills, which makes for the perfect skill set to learn how to properly implement cold laser therapy treatments very quickly for any issue or complaint.

When treating a patient with the PainBuster® we have thoroughly tested and found that following a therapeutic order or treatment hierarchy yields quick & super-efficient results for any issue or complaint. The treatment hierarchy is as follows: lymphatics, circulatory, nerves & dermatomes, acupuncture points (if trained) and finally treatment of the target tissue. Most of the time, only 1-3 steps are needed in the treatment hierarchy to yield desired results.

For smaller areas, lymphatics, circulation, nerves or painful joints (i.e. medial Xiyan or inner eye of the knee), for 30 seconds to 5 minutes, you can strap the PainBuster® device in the included PainBuster hands-free holster or using a flex arm mounted to a medical cart (not included), pinpointed over the painful area(s) with the laser emitter directly touching the bare skin until the desired treatment time or outcome is achieved.

For larger areas like a dermatome or sore and painful muscles (i.e. hamstring muscle), for 2 to 5 minutes+, you can manually scan the PainBuster® device over the entire treatment area with the laser emitter directly touching the bare skin and going over the area uniformly in a grid like pattern horizontally and vertically and repeating until the desired treatment time or outcome is achieved.

For athletes whether professional or weekend warriors, PainBuster® can be used as a pre-workout/game pre-conditioning and injury prevention strategy and post-workout/game accelerated recovery and injury prevention strategy. Pre-workout/game goals would be to pre-condition necessary nerve and muscle groups for that particular athlete which will load ATP directly into these target tissues prior to a workout or game. Post-workout/game goals would be to treat nerves, muscles and joints for that particular athlete which will reduce lactic acid, inflammation and increase ATP again for an accelerated recovery.

I already have a cold laser, why should I get PainBuster® too?

How does this PainBuster® technology work?

PainBuster® has 3 synergistic light energy wavelengths (905nm, 875nm and 635nm) with a non-resistant peak pulse power of 25,000mw (25W) and a static magnetic field at 25 -45mT to further focus the photonic energy deep into the target tissue. Treatments can be customized using 3 pre-set researched based proprietary frequency (Hz) sweep settings to treat pretty much any complaint with success. Treatment times are 30 sec to 5 min+.

How many treatments are needed?

If pain sedation is the goal, treat as needed, which could be only one or two treatments if a minor acute injury. If tissue repair & healing is the goal, usually a series of 10 to 14 treatment sessions is a good rule of thumb, then re-assess and repeat as needed.

What is the best way to use this device?

You can manually scan areas like you would use an ultrasound probe and/or you can pinpoint areas with the included hands-free holder, or you can purchase a flexible arm and mount it to a medical cart for ease of use. Multiple techniques are usually used in each laser treatment session to achieve the best clinical outcomes.

Can I bill insurance?

What is the difference between a Class IV laser and PainBuster® Super Pulsed Laser?

PainBuster® Super Pulsed Laser pulses the 25,000mW laser energy in nanosecond speeds, which make it super safe & super effective, helping to prevent the over treating of the target tissue – which is key to tissue repair & healing (as opposed to pain sedation only). Class IV lasers’ power are on longer, which is where the danger comes in on their safety ratings by being able to cause eye damage and burn the skin. Some correctly engineered class IV lasers are very effective and can sedate pain quickly but come with dangers and very high costs. These very high entry costs and the long learning curves usually will equal a significantly lower Return on Investment (ROI). If you already have a Class IV – you can easily implement PainBuster® treatments, rentals and/or sales to significantly boost your laser treatment revenue stream and ROI!

Why super pulsed 905nm instead of 810nm wavelength?

The 905 nanometer (nm) super pulsed wavelength has been shown to outperform the 810 nanometer (nm) wavelength (CW or pulsed) in tissue depth penetration in multiple research studies and is the optimal wavelength for restoring the permeability of the cellular membrane and for causing a regenerative biological stimulus, which allows for maximum ATP intracellular production, tissue oxygenation and tissue healing. The 810nm wavelength is the wavelength that is the closest to the maximum absorption point for melanin and therefore carries photonic energy the second deepest to assist in tissue healing. PainBuster super pulsed laser uses the wavelength 875nm pulsed, which through independent testing has found to have similar effects as the 810nm wavelength but the best synergist effect with the 905nm super pulsed and 635nm pulsed wavelengths, as used in the PainBuster® device. Therefore, 810nm wavelength is used in most of the lower peak powered cold laser devices on the market that do not have the more sophisticated and productive super pulsed laser technology.

How long are treatments?

On smaller regions like a finger or on children, treatments could be as little as 30 seconds. On larger and deeper regions or chronic, arthritic pain, like lower back pain or chronic arthritic knee pain on adults, treatments could be 5min+ bilaterally. Do my staff or I need specific documented laser safety training?

NO! What are the advantages of using the PainBuster® super pulsed laser?

Do PainBuster® super pulsed laser therapy treatments hurt or can they burn the skin?

No and No! Most patients only report a soothing warmth over the area being treatment and instant pain relief. The only condition that caution must be used is when using the laser over an area of skin that is tattooed. Different pigments absorb different wavelengths of light and can absorb photons, which could cause a buildup of heat and block full laser transmission. When treating over tattoos go slowly and bounce back and forth to different treatment areas to prevent thermal accumulation and to allow the best advantage for the optimal photon absorption in the target tissue. Getting constant feedback from the patient or person being treated is key, but tattooed areas can and do get successfully treated all the time with very minimal risks most of the time.

Can the PainBuster® super pulsed laser be used over areas of non-electrical implants?

Yes! Due to the rapid super pulsing which prevents thermal buildup, PainBuster® can be used over areas of non-electrical implants. The best practice is to treat on both sides of the implant or all the way around an implant and not directly over the implant, as the goal is to stimulate human tissue as opposed to the non-human tissue of the implant.

Can the PainBuster® super pulsed laser be used over clothing?

No! There are no beneficial effects to use any laser over clothing as studies have been done that show the majority of light energy gets blocked by clothing. Also, when using any laser, the closer the laser emitter/aperture is to the skin, the more photonic energy will be absorbed by the target tissue in the shorter period of time – the further the laser emitter/aperture is away from the skin, the less photonic energy will be absorbed by the target tissue over a longer period of time as compared to treating with having the laser emitter/aperture directly on the skin or compressed down on the target tissue. Due to PainBuster’s super pulsing technology, most of the time treating with the laser emitter/aperture directly on the skin or compressed down into the skin is safe and the optimal technique for maximum photonic energy delivery in the shortest period of time.

SUPER PULSED LASERS

Super Pulsed Lasers (SPL) are lasers that pulse high output peak laser energy in short nanoseconds bursts within the 10 to 200 nanosecond range. Super pulsing requires special medical grade laser diodes to achieve this very rapid nano-pulsing, which is required for the deepest non-invasive tissue penetration, for restoring the permeability of the cellular membrane and for causing a regenerative biological stimulus. Super pulsing also eliminates excess thermal buildup in the target tissue.

Constant wave (CW) lasers, in contrast, are lasers that do not the pulse the laser energy and the laser energy is on all the time. The positive, beneficial effects of super pulsing are not seen with these types of lasers. Higher powered constant wave lasers can lead to thermal buildup in the target tissue, which is productively used in soft tissue surgery but can negatively affect Photobiomodulation Therapy (PBMT) treatments for tissue repair and healing.

PainBuster® super pulsed laser uses the researched back 905nm Gallium Arsenide super pulsed laser diode which is the best super pulsed wavelength for tissue depth penetration, analgesic effect, ATP intracellular production and tissue oxygenation.

905nm VS. 810nm

The 905 nanometer (nm) super pulsed wavelength has been shown to outperform the 810 nanometer (nm) wavelength (CW or pulsed) in tissue depth penetration in multiple research studies and is the optimal wavelength for restoring the permeability of the cellular membrane and for causing a regenerative biological stimulus, which allows for maximum ATP intracellular production, tissue oxygenation and tissue healing.

The 810nm wavelength is the wavelength that is the closest to the maximum absorption point for melanin and therefore carries photonic energy the second deepest to assist in tissue healing. PainBuster super pulsed laser uses the wavelength 875nm pulsed, which through independent testing has found to have similar effects as the 810nm wavelength but the best synergist effect with the 905nm super pulsed and 635nm pulsed wavelengths, as used in the PainBuster® device.

Therefore, 810nm wavelength is used in most of the lower peak powered cold laser devices on the market that do not have the more sophisticated and productive super pulsed laser technology.

PHOTOBIOMODULATION

Photobiomodulation Therapy (PBMT) is the new industry accepted term for all non-thermal light and laser therapies and is defined as: A form of light therapy that utilizes non-ionizing forms of light sources in the visible and infrared spectrum. It is a non-thermal process involving endogenous chromophores eliciting photophysical (i.e. linear and non-linear) and photochemical events at various biological scales. This process results in beneficial therapeutic outcomes including but not limited to the alleviation of pain or inflammation, immunomodulation, and promotion of wound healing and tissue regeneration.

PMBT has been proven in 1,000’s of research articles for various conditions over the last 50+ years. The scientific data and specifications are more well defined than ever before, which enable very specifically modulated devices to achieve therapeutic outcomes for a variety of issues, as is being seen with 905nm super pulsed medical laser technologies.

RED LIGHT THERAPY

Caution: Red Light Therapy is definitely NOT Super Pulsed Laser Therapy. For a more complete understanding of the two types of technologies, see the chart below. Red light has a very shallow penetration depth and is only suited for relaxation, cellular modulation, skin rejuvenation, body contouring and assisted weight loss but NOT well suited for deep acute or chronic musculoskeletal complaints.

Due to the relaxation and cellular modulation effects of red-light therapy, it can make sore muscles feel better after a workout or sporting event but will have little, long lasting effects on arthritis nor acute or chronic injuries of joints, ligaments, and tendons, as compared to super pulsed laser therapy.

Red light therapy is beneficial, that is why the 635nm wavelength spectrum is included in the PainBuster® super pulsed laser, but as a stand-alone treatment it should only be used within its narrow therapeutic window, as it is not a panacea as some make it out to be. Devices must have specific wavelengths and modulated correctly to achieve corrective therapeutic outcomes.

I already have a cold laser, why should I get PainBuster® too?

If your laser is not portable, too complicated, or dangerous for your staff or family to learn, costs too much to buy another one for your other treatment rooms, you want to be able to rent or sell lasers to your patients or you simply want one for you and multiple family members to have on hand at all times…then you need a PainBuster® or a few or a whole case!

I don’t have a cold laser, why should I get Painbuster® for home or my clinic?

Correctly modulated cold lasers, like PainBuster®, provide a next level, non-invasive treatment that usually corrects a nagging injury, pain, or complaint that no other modality has been successful at completely eliminating. Also, there are new clinical trials underway in the US for multiple conditions that are going to make cold lasers the new BIG thing again and will be the new IG & twitter chatter – get in early while inventory is available!

How does this PainBuster® technology work?

PainBuster® has 3 synergistic light energy wavelengths (905nm, 875nm and 635nm) with a non-resistant peak pulse power of 25,000mw (25W) and a static magnetic field at 25 -45mT to further focus the photonic energy deep into the target tissue. Treatments can be customized using 3 pre-set researched based proprietary frequency (Hz) sweep settings to treat pretty much any complaint with success. Treatment times are 30 sec to 5 min+.

Do you provide treatment protocols?

Yes, we provide a detailed device manual, treatment therapeutic order guide, along with FREE unlimited support from our DC laser experts for special protocols.

How many treatments are needed?

If pain sedation is the goal, treat as needed, which could be only one or two treatments if a minor acute injury. If tissue repair & healing is the goal, usually a series of 10 to 14 treatment sessions is a good rule of thumb, then re-assess and repeat as needed.

What is the best way to use this device?

You can manually scan areas like you would use an ultrasound probe and/or you can pinpoint areas with the included hands-free holder, or you can purchase a flexible arm and mount it to a medical cart for ease of use. Multiple techniques are usually used in each laser treatment session to achieve the best clinical outcomes.

Can I bill insurance?

Patients can use their FSA /HSA to pay for treatments or to buy or rent this FDA compliant device. Due to the popularity of cold laser treatments, most patients have no issues paying cash for this treatment. Also, many DC’s, we are told, are collecting with PI regularly and getting great results.

How much can I charge per laser session?

National laser treatment costs in the office are from $60 to $120 per session depending on length of treatment and your geographical location.

How do I rent these to patients?

We provide you with a template rental contract with the purchase of PainBuster®. Weekly rates are from $150 to $250 per week depending on your geographical location. This price can be easily built into treatment plans.

How do I sell these to patients?

MSRP is $5,995 so you can sell them for whatever price you would like above your purchase price.

What is the difference between a Class IV laser and PainBuster® Super Pulsed Laser?

PainBuster® Super Pulsed Laser pulses the 25,000mW laser energy in nanosecond speeds, which make it super safe & super effective, helping to prevent the over treating of the target tissue – which is key to tissue repair & healing (as opposed to pain sedation only). Class IV lasers’ power are on longer, which is where the danger comes in on their safety ratings by being able to cause eye damage and burn the skin. Some correctly engineered class IV lasers are very effective and can sedate pain quickly but come with dangers and very high costs. These very high entry costs and the long learning curves usually will equal a significantly lower Return on Investment (ROI). If you already have a Class IV – you can easily implement PainBuster® treatments, rentals and/or sales to significantly boost your laser treatment revenue stream and ROI!

Why super pulsed 905nm instead of 810nm wavelength?

The 905 nanometer (nm) super pulsed wavelength has been shown to outperform the 810 nanometer (nm) wavelength (CW or pulsed) in tissue depth penetration in multiple research studies and is the optimal wavelength for restoring the permeability of the cellular membrane and for causing a regenerative biological stimulus, which allows for maximum ATP intracellular production, tissue oxygenation and tissue healing. The 810nm wavelength is the wavelength that is the closest to the maximum absorption point for melanin and therefore carries photonic energy the second deepest to assist in tissue healing. PainBuster super pulsed laser uses the wavelength 875nm pulsed, which through independent testing has found to have similar effects as the 810nm wavelength but the best synergist effect with the 905nm super pulsed and 635nm pulsed wavelengths, as used in the PainBuster® device. Therefore, 810nm wavelength is used in most of the lower peak powered cold laser devices on the market that do not have the more sophisticated and productive super pulsed laser technology.

How long are treatments?

On smaller regions like a finger or on children, treatments could be as little as 30 seconds. On larger and deeper regions or chronic, arthritic pain, like lower back pain or chronic arthritic knee pain on adults, treatments could be 5min+ bilaterally. Do my staff or I need specific documented laser safety training?

NO! Due to the amazing, innovative super pulsing technology of PainBuster®, you get the peak pulse power of a Class IV laser in super pulsed nanosecond bursts without the dangers of burning the skin or damaging the eyes. You also do NOT need a special locked cabinet for storage of the PainBuster® due to its immense safety.

Do you get instant pain relief in 1 treatment?

Yes, in a 30 second to 5min+ initial treatment for most injuries or pain, you will see instant pain relief, many times complete relief, and reduction in swelling if present, along with an increase in range of motion. What are the advantages of using the PainBuster® super pulsed laser?

Simply, many other lasers available are not equipped with treating deep pain and therefore any benefit from non-super pulsed lasers will be short lived or not experienced at all. These other types of lasers are not equipped to provide enough light energy to the depth of the source of pain. Super pulsing deposits light photons deep into the target tissue every time. These light photons are used by cells to create energy that supports the rebuilding and repair of the target tissue being treated. The inflammation is first reduced, then the damaged tissue is healed, and finally pain symptoms can be resolved. Resolution of pain or tissue healing and repair should always be the goal in every case, not just pain sedation, so choose super pulsed laser technology to achieve optimum case outcomes and maximum patient satisfaction.

Do PainBuster® super pulsed laser therapy treatments hurt or can they burn the skin?

No and No! Most patients only report a soothing warmth over the area being treatment and instant pain relief. The only condition that caution must be used is when using the laser over an area of skin that is tattooed. Different pigments absorb different wavelengths of light and can absorb photons, which could cause a buildup of heat and block full laser transmission. When treating over tattoos go slowly and bounce back and forth to different treatment areas to prevent thermal accumulation and to allow the best advantage for the optimal photon absorption in the target tissue. Getting constant feedback from the patient or person being treated is key, but tattooed areas can and do get successfully treated all the time with very minimal risks most of the time.

Can the PainBuster® super pulsed laser be used over areas of non-electrical implants?

Yes! Due to the rapid super pulsing which prevents thermal buildup, PainBuster® can be used over areas of non-electrical implants. The best practice is to treat on both sides of the implant or all the way around an implant and not directly over the implant, as the goal is to stimulate human tissue as opposed to the non-human tissue of the implant.

Can the PainBuster® super pulsed laser be used over clothing?

No! There are no beneficial effects to use any laser over clothing as studies have been done that show the majority of light energy gets blocked by clothing. Also, when using any laser, the closer the laser emitter/aperture is to the skin, the more photonic energy will be absorbed by the target tissue in the shorter period of time – the further the laser emitter/aperture is away from the skin, the less photonic energy will be absorbed by the target tissue over a longer period of time as compared to treating with having the laser emitter/aperture directly on the skin or compressed down on the target tissue. Due to PainBuster’s super pulsing technology, most of the time treating with the laser emitter/aperture directly on the skin or compressed down into the skin is safe and the optimal technique for maximum photonic energy delivery in the shortest period of time.
